Maria Rizzo

Executive Advisor (JCA and Evidence Synthesis)

Maria Rizzo has more than 18 years of experience in evidence synthesis and HTA strategy, supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across global evidence generation and reimbursement programmes.

Throughout her career, Maria has led over 100 evidence synthesis projects spanning systematic literature reviews, network meta-analyses, indirect treatment comparisons, and global HTA evidence packages. She has completed more than 40 ITC feasibility assessments, supporting evidence strategies across oncology, rare diseases, haematology, immunology and other therapeutic areas.

Maria has held senior leadership positions within global consulting organisations, including Evidera, Cencora, Cytel, and GIPAM. She has built and led evidence synthesis teams, directed complex global HTA programmes, and developed evidence generation strategies aligned with the requirements of NICE, the EU JCA, and other global HTA agencies.

Most recently, Maria has supported complex evidence generation programmes for the EU JCA, including systematic literature review packages in rare diseases involving novel treatment pathways. She has extensive experience designing evidence strategies that align with evolving HTA requirements, helping ensure evidence generation programmes remain clinically relevant, methodologically robust, and fit for future HTA assessment. This includes developing pragmatic approaches to evidence generation that incorporate multiple evidence sources when needed to address complex decision problems.
